Joseph Romano, M.D.

Joseph Romano, M.D.

Dr. Joe Romano is an orthopaedic spine surgeon bringing top-tier expertise to Savannah, Georgia. Originally from Chicago, Dr. Romano made his way to the South for his residency at Vanderbilt University and spine surgery fellowship in Kentucky. Before pursuing medicine, he was a walk-on football player at the University of Notre Dame, where he learned the value of hard work and determination—principles he brings into his practice every day.

His philosophy is simple: help patients get back to doing what they love as quickly and safely as possible. He believes surgery should always be the last option, encouraging patients to first explore non-operative treatments like physical therapy, injections, and other conservative measures. However, when those approaches don’t deliver the relief patients need, Dr. Romano is ready to step in with surgical solutions—treating each patient with the same care and attention he would give a member of his own family.

Outside of the operating room, he loves to watch Notre Dame football, tee off on the golf course, play pickleball, dive into a good book, or explore new travel destinations. His passion for spine health and love for the game make him a driven surgeon dedicated to getting patients back in action.
